DTC Confirmation Test

  1. Ensure intake air temperature is 6.8-158°F (-14-70°C), vehicle is at an altitude of 9150 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 74 kPa or more. Turn ignition off, connect scan tool and turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle with engine speed at 4000 RPM in 3rd gear (M/T) or 2nd gear (A/T). Release accelerator pedal and allow vehicle to coast (with vehicle in gear). Stop vehicle. Check for DTCs P0500. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
