Diagnosis & Repair Procedure
- Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0103 is set, go to next step. If DTC P0103 is not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
- Turn ignition on. Backprobing, measure voltage between PCM 26-pin connector C51-3 terminals No. 21 (Gray/Yellow wire) and No. 23 (Purple/White wire). See Figure. If reading is .5-1.0 volt, go to next step. If reading is not .5-1.0 volt, check for short to power in Purple/White wire between PCM 26-pin connector C51-3 and MAF sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If wire is okay, replace MAF sensor and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
- Start engine. Backprobing, measure voltage between PCM 26-pin connector C51-3 terminals No. 21 (Gray/Yellow wire) and No. 23 (Purple/White wire). Increase engine speed. If reading does not rise within 5-volt range while engine speed is increased, replace MAF sensor and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If reading rises within 5-volt range while engine speed is increased, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If intermittent problem is not found, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
