Power Door Locks & Remote Keyless Entry Systems: Description

NOTE: This article applies to all Esteem models equipped with Power Door Locks or Power Door Locks and Remote Keyless Entry (PDL/RKE) System.

Power door locks will lock and unlock in unison when driver's door lock switch is pressed. When driver's door is locked using door lock knob or door key cylinder, all doors are locked. Door locks may also be operated manually from each door lock knob. Door lock actuators are operated by Power Door Lock (PDL) controller. PDL controller applies voltage and ground through Yellow and Yellow/Black wires to all door lock actuators. Polarity is reversed to lock, or unlock all doors. Voltage is supplied to PDL controller through junction/fuse block DOOR LOCK (15-amp) fuse at all times. PDL controller is located behind driver's kick panel.

Power Door Locks and Remote Keyless Entry (PDL/RKE) system consists of power door lock system components with a different PDL/RKE controller and a driver's door lock actuator with door key switch assembly. PDL/RKE controller monitors driver's power door lock switch, door key switch and RKE transmitter. All doors can be locked using driver's door lock knob, driver's door key lock cylinder, power door lock switch or RKE transmitter. All doors can be unlocked using power door lock switch, RKE transmitter or by turning driver's door key lock cylinder to unlock position twice within 5 seconds. Using RKE transmitter to lock vehicle will flash hazard lights one time. Using RKE transmitter to unlock vehicle will flash hazard lights twice and illuminate interior lighting for about 30 seconds.
