Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If any DTCs are displayed, see appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  2. Start engine. Retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any DTCs are displayed, see appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If no DTCs are displayed, turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM connectors. Turn ignition on. If MIL comes on, repair short to ground in Purple wire between ECM 35-pin harness connector E92 terminal No. 4 and instrument cluster 10-pin connector G18 terminal No. 8. See Figure and Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If MIL does not come on, replace ECM. Retest system.
