Diagnosis & Repair Procedure
- Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P1451 is set, go to next step. If DTC P1450 is set, replace ECM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P1450 and P1451 are not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
- Turn ignition on. Backprobing, measure voltage between ECM 27-pin connector E91 terminal No. 7 (Green wire) and ECM 28-pin connector C20 No. 27 (Orange wire). See Figure . About 3.9-5.0 volts should be present. Start engine and allow it to idle. About 1.4-2.4 volts should be present. If voltages are not as specified, go to next step. If voltages are as specified, replace ECM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
- Disconnect MDP sensor connector. MDP sensor is located on fire-wall. Check for good terminal contact at MDP sensor connector. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary. If terminal contact is okay, check MDP sensor operation. See MANIFOLD DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE (MDP) SENSOR - ESTEEM (1.8L), GRAND VITARA & VITARA in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. Replace as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . Go to next step.
- If MDP sensor is okay, check for short or open in circuits between MDP and ECM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If circuits are okay, replace ECM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
