Oil Pump: Inspection
NOTE:
Oil pump measurements must be taken with pump installed on torque converter.
Clean all components in solvent. Dry with compressed air. Inspect all components for damage or wear. Inspect oil pump housing and stator shaft bushings. If pump bushings are worn or damaged, oil pump housing or stator shaft must be replaced. Measure driven gear-to-housing clearance and gear tip clearance. Using a feeler gauge and straightedge, measure gear side clearance between pump housing face and top of gears. See Fig 2 . Ensure all measurements are within specification. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS table. Replace necessary components to obtain correct clearances.
