Diagnostic Procedure
- Before continuing diagnosis, ensure battery voltage is 11 volts or more. Repair charging system as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position and observe AIR BAG warning light. If AIR BAG warning light turns on, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not turn on, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON .
- If AIR BAG warning light flashes continuously, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES . If not, go to next step.
- If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times then turns off, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times and stays on, go to step 5.
- Using either scan tool or AIR BAG warning light flashing method of DTC retrieval, check for SIR DTCs. If NO CODES or DTC 12 is retrieved, SIR system is operating normal at this time. If a DTC is retrieved, an intermittent condition exists. Check wiring harness and connectors for poor connection.
- Using either scan tool or AIR BAG warning light flashing method of DTC retrieval, check for SIR DTCs. If NO CODES or DTC 12 is retrieved, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON STEADY . If DTC(s) are retrieved, record DTC(s) and perform appropriate diagnostic procedure for each DTC.
