Steering Knuckle: Installation
- Install knuckle to strut. Align strut projection with knuckle slit. See Figure. Install knuckle-to-strut pinch bolt, but DO NOT tighten. Align knuckle with lower control arm and install bolt.

- Tighten knuckle-to-strut pinch bolt. Tighten lower control arm-to-knuckle bolt. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Apply sealant to mating surfaces of brake backing plate and knuckle. Install and tighten brake backing plate bolts.
- Install brakeline to wheel cylinder and to steering knuckle bracket. Install control rod, but DO NOT tighten bolts/nuts. Install brake drum assembly. Install NEW spindle nut, and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Stake spindle nut.
- Install wheel. Lower vehicle to normal riding height. Tighten control rod fasteners to specification. Bleed and adjust brakes. See appropriate DISC & DRUM article in BRAKES. To complete installation, check rear toe-in. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
