Symptom Chart A: Abs Warning Light On Constantly, No DTCS Stored

  1. Using scan tool, operate ABS warning light. If warning light flashes, light is currently functioning correctly. If warning light does not flash, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect EBCM 8-pin and 24-pin harness connectors. Turn ignition switch on. Connect jumper wire between ground and EBCM 24-pin harness connector terminal No. 23 (Blue wire). If warning light is no longer illuminated, inspect harness connector. Repair as needed. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition on. If symptom is still present, replace EBCM. If warning light is illuminated, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove DEF fuse (20-amp). Turn ignition switch on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and EBCM 24-pin harness connector terminal No. 23 (Blue wire). If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair Blue wire for short to voltage.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Install DEF fuse. Remove ABS check relay. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch on. If ABS warning light is illuminated, go to next step. If warning light is not illuminated, repair short to ground in Blue/Orange wire between ABS check relay and ABS warning light.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance of Blue wire between EBCM 24-pin harness connector terminal No. 23 and ABS check relay harness connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, inspect circuit for open. Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, replace ABS check relay.
  6. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light is not illuminated, system is currently functioning correctly. If warning light is illuminated, replace EBCM.
