Diagnostic Procedure
- Turn ignition switch on. Using scan tool, select ABS DATA LIST and monitor stoplight switch status. If scan tool indicates stoplight switch is "OPEN", go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate stoplight switch is "OPEN", system is currently functioning correctly. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- While monitoring stoplight switch status on scan tool, apply light pressure on brake pedal. If scan tool indicates stoplight switch status as "ON" within 1" (25 mm) of pedal travel, system is currently functioning correctly. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If scan tool does not indicate stoplight switch status as "ON" within 1" (25 mm) of pedal travel, go to next step.
- Apply firm pressure on brake pedal and observe stoplights. If stoplights are illuminated, go to next step. If stoplights are not illuminated, repair open in stoplight circuit.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect EBCM 8-pin and 24-pin harness connectors. Turn ignition switch on. With firm pressure applied to brake pedal, measure voltage between ground and EBCM 24-pin harness connector terminal No. 21 (Green/White wire). If voltage is 10 volts or greater, check for poor terminal contact of Green/White wire at terminal No. 21 of EBCM 24-pin harness connector. If connector is okay, replace EBCM. If voltage is not 10 volts or greater, repair open in Green/White wire.
