Coil Spring & Lower Control Arm: Installation

  1. Install control arm to body, and tighten front bushing bracket bolts. DO NOT tighten front and rear control arm pivot bolts and nut. Install coil spring in control arm.
  2. Match bottom of spring with stepped part of control arm. Raise control arm with jack. Install control arm-to-knuckle bolt and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove jack. Install stabilizer link to control arm.
  3. Install control rod, but DO NOT tighten knuckle stud nut and toe-in cam bolt. Install wheel. Lower hoist so vehicle weight rests on ground. Tighten control rod-to-knuckle stud nut and toe-in adjustment cam to specification. Tighten control arm pivot bolts and nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. When tightening front control arm pivot nut, ensure bushing washer (behind nut) has flat section facing down and round section facing up. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Check rear toe-in. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
