Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If SIR Diagnostic System Check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR Diagnostic System Check has not been performed, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect all SIR system components. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position for at least 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position and observe AIR BAG warning light. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times and turns off, system is normal at this time. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times and does not turn off, go to next step.
  3. Recheck DTCs. If previously set DTC is displayed, go to next step. If NEW DTC is displayed, go to appropriate diagnostic procedure for DTC set.
  4. Clear all SIR DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and wait 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position and observe AIR BAG warning light. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times and turns off, system is normal at this time. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times and does not turn off, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect all SIR system components. Go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
