Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect VSS harness connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between VSS terminals. If resistance is 100-300 ohms at 68°F (20°C), go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace VSS.
  2. Visually inspect VSS for damage, contamination or improper installation. Repair as necessary. If VSS is in good condition, go to next step.
  3. Check circuits between VSS and PCM for an open, short to ground or short to each other. Repair as necessary. If wires are okay, check for an intermittent problem or faulty PCM. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
