DTC P1408: Manifold Differential Pressure (MDP) Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Esteem 1.8L)

  1. Remove PCM. Turn ignition on, engine off. Measure voltage between ECM connector terminals E91-7 and C20-27. About 3.9-5.0 volts should be present. Start and idle engine. About 1.4-2.4 volts should be present. If voltages are not to specification, go to next step. If voltages are to specification, check for intermittent problem with wiring. If wiring is okay, replace PCM.
  2. Disconnect MDP sensor connector. Check connector for good terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, see MANIFOLD DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE (MDP) SENSOR - ESTEEM (1.8L), GRAND VITARA & VITARA in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If MDP sensor is okay, check Green, Orange or Pink/Green wires for an open circuit. If wiring is okay, replace PCM. If MDP sensor is not okay, replace MDP sensor.
