DTC Confirmation Test

  1. Ensure intake air temperature is 6.8-158°F (-14-70°C), vehicle is at an altitude of 9150 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 74 kPa or more. Ensure DTCs P0101, P0102, P0103, P0111, P0112, P0113, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0131, P0132, P0133, P0134, P0135, P0136, P0141, P0335, P0461, P0463, P0500, P1450 and P1451 are not set. Turn ignition off, connect scan tool and turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) RESET PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article.
  2. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at speeds of 35 MPH or more with throttle steady for 5 minutes. Increase vehicle speeds 50-60 MPH and engine speed to 2500-3000 RPM for one minute. Stop vehicle. Check for DTC P0420 or P0430.
