Hydraulic Unit
- Ensure service brakes are in good condition and battery is fully charged. Check ABS warning light to ensure no faults are indicated.
- Install jumper wire between diagnostic switch terminal and ground terminal. See Figure . Access DTCs from ABS control module. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If any DTCs are indicated, go to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC TESTS . If no DTCs or DTC 12 (system okay) is indicated, go to next step.
- Keep jumper wire installed in diagnostic connector. Raise and support vehicle. With transmission in Neutral, spin each wheel to ensure brakes are not dragging. If brakes are dragging, repair as necessary.NOTE: To perform the following step, the help of an assistant is needed.
- Depress brake pedal and turn ignition on while assistant spins each wheel, one at a time. Each wheel should turn for approximately .5 second after key is turned on. Pump motor should be heard and pedal pulsation should be felt at this time.
- If all wheels cannot be checked during one ignition cycle, turn ignition off and on and continue testing. Turn ignition off and remove jumper wire from diagnostic connector. If hydraulic unit does not operate as described, replace hydraulic unit.
