Preliminary Inspection
- Ensure engine is at normal operating temperature. Ensure fluid level is correct. Inspect and adjust shift linkage and Transmission Range (TR) switch (if necessary). Ensure electronic component harness connectors are properly connected. Check idle speed RPM and adjust if necessary.
- After verifying proper operation of the transaxle electronic control system, perform a manual shifting test. See MANUAL SHIFT TEST under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING in SUZUKI ESTEEM ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article. If transaxle passes test, proceed to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (TYPE 1) . If transaxle does not pass test, go to next step.
- Perform stall test, time lag test, line pressure test, engine brake test and "P" range test. See appropriate test under PERFORMANCE TESTS. If all tests pass, proceed to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (TYPE 2) . If one or more tests do not pass, proceed to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (TYPE 1) , SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (TYPE 2) , then SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (TYPE 3) .
