Visual Inspection

Check the following and repair as necessary:

• Engine oil level and evidence of leakage.
• Engine coolant level and evidence of leakage.
• ATF level, condition and evidence of leakage.
• Battery water level and terminal corrosion.
• A/T hoses for poor connections or deterioration.
• Throttle cable for excessive play or improper installation.
• Harness connectors for poor connections or worn insulation.
• Fuses for improper installation or for burning.
• Related mechanical components for proper installation and condition.

If no problems are found during visual inspection. Check self-diagnostic system. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING  . If only DTC 12 is retrieved even though a problem exists, perform a manual shifting test. See MANUAL SHIFTING TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
