Removal & Installation
- Before proceeding, read air bag service precautions section. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Disable the SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) is located under center console. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove console box extension. Remove 4 bolts and steering support member lower brace. Disconnect Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) connector. Remove 3 bolts. Remove Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) from vehicle. See Fig 1.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten SDM bolts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Make sure arrow on SDM is pointing toward front of vehicle. Reactivate SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Check AIR BAG indicator light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
