BRAKELIGHT Switch Circuit Check

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Cruise Control Electronic Control Unit (CC ECU) harness connector. Turn ignition on. Depress brake pedal. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and CC ECU harness connector terminal No. 2. See Fig 1 . With brake pedal depressed, reading should be 10-14 volts. Release brake pedal. With brake pedal released, reading should be zero volts.
  2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and CC ECU harness connector terminal No. 6. With brake pedal released, reading should be 10-14 volts. Depress brake pedal. With brake pedal depressed, reading should be zero volts.
  3. If voltage is not as specified, check fuses, wiring and harness connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair fuses, wiring or harness connectors as necessary.
  4. If fuses, wiring and harness connectors are okay, check brakelight switch. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS.
