Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)

Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) is built into ABS actuator assembly and cannot be serviced separately. EBCM monitors AC signals from each wheel speed sensor. EBCM translates signals as wheel speed. When any decelerating wheel speed rate is determined to be excessive in comparison to other monitored wheels, the ABS actuator (hydraulic unit) modulates hydraulic brake pressure to each wheel to equalize speed of all wheels. ABS does not function when vehicle speed drops to 4 MPH.

During each drive cycle of vehicle, EBCM performs an initialization test. EBCM cycles relay, solenoids, and pump motor for 1.5 seconds. Test will not occur if brake pedal is depressed or vehicle speed is less than 10 MPH. Initialization test may be heard or felt and is considered normal.
