DTC P0481: A/C Cooling Fan Control Circuit Malfunction (Esteem)
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and PCM 22-pin harness connector "C" terminal No. 19 (Light Green/Black wire). Reading should be 10-14 volts when A/C switch is turned off. If reading is as specified, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, check Light Green/Black wire between PCM and A/C amplifier for a short to ground.
- With ignition on, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and PCM 16-pin harness connector "B" terminal No. 8 (Yellow wire). Reading should read 10-14 volts when A/C switch is turned off. If reading is as specified, problem is intermittent or due to a faulty PCM. If reading is not as specified, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove A/C cooling fan relay located in engine compartment relay/fuse block. See Figure or Figure . Measure resistance between terminals No. 3 and 4 of relay. If resistance is 70-110 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 70-110 ohms, replace relay. Retest system.
- Check Light/Green wire and Yellow wire for an open or short. If connectors and wiring are okay, replace PCM and retest system.
