DTC P0141: Heated Oxygen Sensor (Ho2S) No. 2 Heater Circuit Malfunction

  1. Start engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Stop engine. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and PCM 26-pin harness connector "A" terminal No. 4 (Light Green/Black wire on Esteem, or Pink wire on Swift). Reading should be more than 10 volts. With voltmeter still connected, start engine and let idle. One minute after engine start, reading should be less than 1.9 volts. If readings are not as specified, go to next step. If readings are as specified, check for an intermittent problem. Go to INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect HO2S No. 2 harness connector. Measure resistance of HO2S No. 2 between connector terminals No. 3 (Light Green/Black wire on Esteem, or Pink wire on Swift) and No. 4 (Black/White wire). If measured resistance is 11.7-15.6 ohms at about 68°F (20°C), go to next step. If measured resistance is not 11.7-15.6 ohms at about 68°F (20°C), replace HO2S No. 2. Retest system.
  3. Check wire between HO2S No. 2 and PCM (Light Green/Black wire on Esteem, or Pink wire on Swift) for an open or short to ground. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
