Steering Gear: Removal

  1. Remove steering shaft cover from inside vehicle. Loosen, but DO NOT remove, bolt at steering shaft joint assembly, located at bottom of steering column (not steering gear).
  2. Remove bolt from steering shaft joint assembly at steering gear. Slide shaft assembly upward away from steering gear. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels.
  3. Remove tie rod-to-steering knuckle retaining nuts. Using Puller (09913-65210), separate tie rod ends from steering knuckles. Remove steering gear mounting bolts and brackets. Remove steering gear assembly.
