DTC P0463: Fuel Level Sensor (Gauge) Circuit High Input

  1. Observe fuel gauge. Ensure gauge reads greater than empty. Add fuel if necessary. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, backprobe PCM 22-pin harness connector. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 11 (Yellow/Red wire). If voltage is 9.4 volts or greater, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel level sensor harness connector located under rear seat cushion. Using an ohmmeter, check for specified resistance between ground and sensor connector terminal. See FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is as specified, check for open in Yellow/Red wire between connector and PCM. Repair as necessary. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel level sensor. Retest system.
