DTC 94: Brake Switch Contact Always Closed: Description

DTC sets if vehicle speed reaches at least 25 MPH, and stoplight switch was not open during 2 consecutive drive cycles.

  1. Turn ignition off. If brake lights are off, go to step 3). If brake lights are on, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect brake light switch. If brake lights are off, adjust or replace brake light switch. If brake lights are on, repair Green/White wire for short to voltage.
  3. Disconnect EBCM harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 21 (Green/White wire) on EBCM 24-pin harness connector. If voltage is 2 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 2 volts, repair Green/White wire for short to voltage.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reconnect all harness connectors. Test drive vehicle for 2 drive cycles above 25 MPH. If DTC 94 reset, replace EBCM. If DTC 94 does not reset, system is currently functioning correctly. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
