DTC P0111: Intake Air Temp. (IAT) Sensor CKT Range/ Performance Problem

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect IAT sensor harness connector. Check terminals of IAT sensor connector for poor contact. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and retest system. If terminals are okay, remove IAT sensor from air cleaner and go to next step.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between IAT sensor terminals while immersed in a container of water. Heat water slowly and ensure resistance changes as specified. See INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, replace IAT sensor. Retest system. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
  3. Remove PCM harness connectors. Check PCM harness connector "B" terminals No. 19 (Light Blue wire) and No. 20 (Gray/Yellow wire) for poor contact at PCM. If connection is okay, check circuit wiring for high resistance between IAT sensor and PCM. Repair as necessary and retest system. If wiring and connectors check good, check for an intermittent problem or faulty PCM. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
