Without Overdrive

EXTENSION CASE (2WD MODEL)
REMOVAL





1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
2. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
3. Remove rear propeller shaft from extension case.
4. Disconnect speedometer cable from extension case.
5. Remove exhaust pipe bracket from pipe and extension case.





6. Support transmission with a transmission jack.
Try not to apply jack against oil pan as much as possible.
7. Remove mounting member.
8. Remove extension case from transmission.
Place oil pan under joint of cases to receive A/T fluid flowing from between their mating faces.

INSTALLATION





1. Clean mating surfaces of transmission and extension case.
2. Install new gasket and extension case to transmission.
Tighten bolts to specified torque.

Tightening Torque
(a): 31 Nm (3.1 kg-m, 23 ft. lbs.)

3. Install mounting member and tighten member bolts to specified torque.
After tightening, make sure to lock member bolts of right side by bending lock plate.
4. Install exhaust pipe bracket.
5. Connect speedometer cable to extension case.
6. Install rear propeller shaft.
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Add A/T fluid and check fluid level referring to "LEVEL CHECK".
9. Connect battery negative cable.
