Spindle: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
2. Hoist vehicle and remove wheel.
3. Remove wheel hub. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
4. Support lower arm with jack.
5. Remove tie rod end.
Special Tool (A): 09913-65210 or equivalent.
6. Remove harness clamp bolts and remove front wheel speed sensor from knuckle.
CAUTION:
^ Do not pull wire harness when removing front wheel speed sensor.
^ Do not cause damage to surface of front wheel speed sensor and do not allow dust, etc. to enter its installation hole.
7. Remove ball stud nut.
8. Remove strut bracket bolts from strut bracket.
9. By tapping knuckle on its end with hammer or using bearing puller, disconnect knuckle from ball stud.
10. While lowering jack, remove knuckle/wheel spindle comp.
11. Remove knuckle oil seal, dust cover and wheel spindle.
INSTALLATION
1. Check that no foreign material is attached to sensor and rotor.
2. Install it by reversing removal procedure.
Tightening Torque (a): 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lbs.)
CAUTION:
^ Do not pull wire harness or twist more than necessary when installing front wheel speed sensor.
^ Fit harness grommet to inner fender securely.
3. Check that there is no clearance between sensor and knuckle.
