Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

CAUTION: Do not allow brake fluid to get on painted surfaces.





REMOVAL
1. Clean around reservoir cap and take out fluid with syringe or equivalent.
2. Disconnect P & D lead wire at coupler.
3. Disconnect brake pipes from P & D valve.
4. Remove P & D valve and inspect the differential switch.

CAUTION: Never disassemble P & D valve assembly. If it is found faulty, replace it with new assembly.





INSTALLATION
1. Install the P & D valve, refer to the illustration and tighten fastener (a) to 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lbs.) and the flare nuts (b) to 16 Nm (12.0 ft. lbs.)
2. Fill reservoir with specified brake fluid.
3. Connect P & D lead wire at coupler.
4. Bleed air from the hydraulic system.
