Transmission Range Switch Circuit Check (A/T)

NOTE: Transmission range switch may also be referred to as park/neutral position switch or shift switch.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Cruise Control Electronic Control Unit (CC ECU) harness connector. Check continuity between ground and CC ECU harness connector terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire). See Figure . With shift lever in Park or Neutral, continuity should exist. With shift lever in any other position, continuity should not exist.
  2. If continuity is as specified, circuit is okay. If continuity is not as specified, check wiring and harness connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair wiring or harness connectors as necessary. If wiring and harness connectors are okay, replace or adjust transmission range switch as necessary. See TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH ADJUSTMENT (A/T)  under ADJUSTMENTS.
