Swift (A/T)

  1. Remove VSS. Visually inspect VSS and counter shaft gear for damage, foreign objects attached and for correct installation. Repair as necessary. If VSS and countershaft gear are okay, go to next step.
  2. Install VSS. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect VSS harness connector. Using an analog voltmeter, connect leads to VSS terminals. Start engine. Place transmission selector lever to "D" position. Run vehicle to 40 MPH. VSS output voltage should be about one volt. If output voltage is not as specified, replace VSS.
