DTC P0480: Radiator Cooling Fan Control Circuit Malfunction

  1. Turn ignition on. With coolant temperature less than 200°F (93°C), measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and PCM harness connector "A", terminal No. 20 (Pink/Green wire). Reading should be 10-14 volts. If voltage is as specified, problem is intermittent or due to a faulty PCM. See TESTS W/O CODES article. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove radiator cooling fan relay located in engine compartment relay/fuse block. Measure resistance between terminals No. 3 and 4 of relay. See Figure . If resistance is 70-110 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 70-110 ohms, replace relay. Retest system.
  3. Check Black/White wire or Pink/Green wire for an open or short. Repair as necessary. If connections and wiring are okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
