DTC P0505: Idle Air Control (IAC) System Malfunction
- Check operation of IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. Turn ignition off. If not using scan tool, see IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM in SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article. If using scan tool, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Start and warm engine to operating temperature. Select MISC TEST on scan tool and command RPM to increase and decrease. If IAC Valve operates as specified, problem is intermittent or due to a faulty PCM. If IAC valve does not operate as specified, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAC valve harness connector and check for proper contact. Disconnect PCM harness connector "C" and check connection at terminal No. 2 (Red/Black wire). If connections are okay, check Red/Black wire, Red/Yellow wire and Black wire for an open or short. Repair as necessary and retest system. If wiring is okay, replace IAC valve and retest system.
