Using Voltmeter & Warning Light

  1. Ensure ABS warning light operates for 2 seconds after ignition switch is turned on (bulb check). If ABS warning light does not operate, go to appropriate symptom test under TROUBLE SHOOTING  . If ABS warning light is okay, go to next step.
  2. Using a jumper wire, connect diagnostic switch terminal (connector 1, terminal No. 3) to ground terminal (terminal No. 4) at diagnostic connector No. 2. See Fig 1 .
  3. Connect an analog voltmeter to diagnostic output terminal (connector 2, terminal No. 5). See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Watch voltmeter for needle deflection and count needle sweeps. See Fig 2 . Each DTC is repeated 3 times.
  4. If a fault is indicated, go to appropriate DTC circuit test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  . If no DTCs are output, go to TEST D under TROUBLE SHOOTING  . After recording all DTCs, remove jumper wire.
