DTC P0117: Engine Coolant Temp. (ECT) Circuit Low Input

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Select ECT parameter. If display reads 246°F (119°C), turn ignition off and go to next step. If display reading is not 246°F (119°C), check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
  2. Disconnect ECT sensor harness connector located near coolant outlet. Turn ignition on. If display reading on scan tool changes to -40°F (-40°C), replace ECT sensor. If reading is not -40°F (-40°C), check Light Green/Red wire for short to ground. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
