Removal & Installation (Swift)

  1. Remove power rack and pinion assembly. See POWER RACK & PINION under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Move rack boots to access both ends of rack. Secure left end of rack in soft-jaw vise. Remove right tie-rod from rack. Secure rack assembly in vise. Using Ring Nut Wrench (09917-23610), remove ring nut and seal retainer from right end of rack assembly. Remove "O" ring and seal from seal retainer.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Apply light coat of grease to "O" ring and seal. Install "O" ring and seal into seal retainer grooves. Carefully install seal retainer into rack assembly. Tighten ring nut to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Fill and bleed system. See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING under LUBRICATION  .
