DTC 58: Left Front Motor Circuit Shorted To Battery: Description

EBCM detects out of range voltage on either left front motor circuit (indicating a circuit shorted to battery or motor shorted).

  1. If DTC 58 occurs intermittently, seDIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If DTC is currently set, turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 6-pin harness connector from motor pack on ABS actuator. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 (Light Green wire) on motor pack harness connector. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair Light Green wire for short to voltage.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Black wire) on motor pack harness connector. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair Light Green/Black wire for short to voltage.
  3. Turn ignition to LOCK position. Measure resistance between terminals No. 5 (Light Green/Black wire) and 6 (Light Green wire) on motor pack connector. If resistance is greater than .4 ohms, replace EBCM. If resistance is .4 ohms or less, replace motor pack.
