DTC 46: Rear Channel Will Not Move: Description
EBCM sets DTC 46 when motor cannot be commanded to move in either direction.
- Turn ignition on. Pump brake pedal. Using scan tool, select ABS TESTS. Using manual control, select rear motor apply. Apply motor. Apply firm pressure on brake pedal. Select rear motor release function and release motor. If brake pedal falls, keep firm pressure on pedal and go to step 4). If brake pedal does not fall, go to next step.
- Release brake pedal. Select rear motor apply function. Monitor commanded current and feedback current. Apply motor. If feedback current is not higher than commanded current, go to next step. If feedback current is higher than commanded current, go to step 5).
- Using scan tool, select ABS tests. Perform gear tension relief function. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove ABS actuator unit. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Separate motor pack from hydraulic modulator. Attempt to manually move rear hydraulic modulator gear. If gear can be rotated at least 5 full turns lock to lock, replace motor pack. If gear cannot be rotated at least 5 full turns lock to lock, replace hydraulic modulator.
- Select rear motor apply function. Apply motor. If brakes pedal does not rise, go to step 2). If brake pedal rises, system is currently functioning correctly, seDIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect EBCM and ABS actuator motor pack harness connectors. Measure resistance between terminals No. 3 and 4 on EBCM 8-pin harness connector. If resistance is infinite, reconnect all connectors. Test drive vehicle for 3 drive cycles. See CLEARING CODES . If DTC 46 resets, replace EBCM. If resistance is not infinite, repair short between Pink wire and Pink/Black wire.
