Symptom Chart "C" - Abs Warning Light Off Constantly, No DTCS Stored
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, select LAMP TEST. Command "ABS" warning light on. If warning light is not illuminated, go to next step. If warning light is illuminated, light is currently functioning correctly.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect ABS check relay. See Figure. Turn ignition switch on. Connect fused (3-amp) jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 2 (Blue/Orange wire) on ABS check relay harness connector. If "ABS" warning light is not illuminated, go to next step. If warning light is illuminated, go to step 6).
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument 13-pin cluster harness connector. Measure resistance of Blue/Orange wire between terminal No. 2 on ABS check relay and terminal No. 7 on instrument cluster harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, inspect "ABS" warning light bulb. Replace as needed. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Blue/Orange wire.
- Turn ignition on. Connect test light between ground and terminal No. 2 (Blue/Orange wire) on ABS check relay harness connector. If test light illuminates, inspect Blue/Orange wire for short to voltage. Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, replace ABS check relay. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition switch on. If "ABS" warning light illuminates for 3 seconds and goes off, problem is intermittent. Reinspect all applicable connections. If warning light does not operate as specified, replace EBCM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Black wire) on ABS check relay harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black wire.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Green wire) on ABS check relay harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, inspect Blue wire between terminal No. 3 on ABS check relay and terminal No. 23 on EBCM 24-pin harness connector for short to ground. Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, replace ABS check relay. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair Yellow/Green wire for open.
