Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCS)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Suzuki Swift. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is equipped with a self-diagnostic system, which detects system failures or abnormalities. When a malfunction occurs, PCM will illuminate Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) located on instrument cluster. When a malfunction is detected and MIL is turned on, a corresponding DTC will be stored in PCM memory. Each DTC is directly related to a specific CIRCUIT TEST under CIRCUIT TESTS  .
