Contact Coil & Combination Switch: Removal
- Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- Remove driver's side air bag module. See DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG MODULE. Remove steering wheel retaining nut. Place reference marks on steering wheel and steering column shaft for installation reference.
- Using steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel. Remove lower instrument panel cover from instrument panel for access to steering column.
- Remove upper and lower steering column covers. If upper steering column cover is difficult to remove, it may be necessary to loosen steering column mounting bolts for removal of upper steering column cover.
- Remove wiring harness clamps on steering column for contact coil and combination switch wiring harness. Disconnect wiring harness from contact coil and combination switch. Remove contact coil and combination switch from steering column.
