Contact Coil & Combination Switch: Installation
- Ensure front wheels are pointing straight ahead and ignition switch is in LOCK position. Install contact coil and combination switch on steering column.
- If installing a new contact coil and combination switch, contact coil is held at the center position with a lock pin and seal. Remove lock pin from contact coil.
- If installing a used contact coil and combination switch, contact coil must be centered. See CONTACT COIL CENTERING under ADJUSTMENTS .
- On all contact coil applications, reconnect wiring harness for contact coil and combination switch. Install wiring harness clamps on steering column. Install upper and lower steering column covers. Tighten steering column mounting bolts, if loosened during removal procedure. Install lower instrument panel cover.CAUTION: When installing steering wheel, ensure the 2 lugs on contact coil engage with grooves on rear of steering wheel.
- Install steering wheel with reference marks aligned. Ensure the 2 lugs on contact coil engage with grooves on rear of steering wheel. Install and tighten steering wheel retaining nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install driver's side air bag module. See DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
