Air Bag Diagnostic System Check: Notes

NOTE: Diagnostic procedures used in this section are designed to find and repair air bag system problems. For best results, utilize diagnostic charts and follow sequence listed below.
  1. Perform AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK should be starting point of any air bag system diagnostics. AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK checks for proper AIR BAG indicator light operation and for air bag system Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  2. Refer to proper diagnostic chart as directed by AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK will lead to correct chart to diagnose any air bag system problem. By-passing these procedures may result in extended diagnostic time.
  3. Repeat AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK after performing any repair or diagnostic procedures. Performing AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK after all repair and diagnostic procedures will ensure repair is correct and no other conditions exist. When ignition switch is first turned to ON position, system voltage is applied from AIR BAG fuse to Sensing and Diagnostic Module. Sensing and Diagnostic Module responds by flashing AIR BAG indicator 7 times while performing tests on air bag system.
