Removal & Installation: Compressor: Removal

  1. Disable air bag system. See the AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove compressor clutch wiring harness connector.
  2. Remove refrigerant lines and "O" rings at compressor. Cap all refrigerant line openings. Raise and support vehicle. Remove right side engine under cover.
  3. Loosen idler pulley bolt and remove compressor drive belt. Remove compressor mounting bolts. Remove compressor from bottom of vehicle.
