DTC P0117 - Engine Coolant Temp. (ECT) Sensor CKT Low Input

- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Select ECT sensor parameter on scan tool. If display reads greater than 336°F, go to next step. If display reading is 176-212°F, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
- Disconnect ECT sensor harness connector. If display reading drops to -40°F, replace ECT. If display reading is not as specified, check Red/Yellow wire for short to Gray wire (Gray turns to Gray/Yellow) or ground. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
