DTC P0117 - Engine Coolant Temp. (ECT) Sensor CKT Low Input

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Select ECT sensor parameter on scan tool. If display reads greater than 336°F, go to next step. If display reading is 176-212°F, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
  2. Disconnect ECT sensor harness connector. If display reading drops to -40°F, replace ECT. If display reading is not as specified, check Red/Yellow wire for short to Gray wire (Gray turns to Gray/Yellow) or ground. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
