DTC 94 - Brake Switch Contacts Always Closed: Notes

NOTE: For circuit and connector terminal identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .

EBCM can determine proper operation of stoplight switch. This is important because ABS is activated when the stoplight switch is closed. If stoplight switch is always closed, ABS will always be requested, resulting in potential hydraulic modulator cycling on rough roads. Additionally, this malfunction will most likely result in a discharged battery if the driver is not informed of malfunction.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Checks if malfunction is currently present.
  2. Isolates the cause of the malfunction to either a malfunctioning or misadjusted stoplight switch or a short to voltage in the stoplight switch circuit.
  3. Checks for unwanted voltage on the stoplight switch input circuit.
  4. Checks for a possible intermittent malfunction.
