July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor: Swift

  1. Disconnect connector at distributor. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals. See CMP SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. See Fig 1 . Replace CMP sensor if resistance is not within specification. If resistance is within specification, go to next step.
  2. If ignition coil and CMP sensor test okay, use feeler gauge to check air gap. See CMP SENSOR AIR GAP  table. If gap is not correct, loosen CMP sensor mounting screws and move CMP sensor to adjust air gap. Recheck for spark. If spark is still not available, go to TESTS W/CODES article to retrieve stored codes.

Swift 185-275 240-325
(1) Also referred to as pick-up coil or Hall Effect sensor.
(2) Cold is 14-122°F (-10-50°C).
(3) Hot is 122-212°F (50-100°C).
