Symptom Chart "C": Abs Warning Light Off Constantly, No DTCS Stored
- Turn ignition switch on. Using scan tool, select LAMP TEST. Command ABS warning light on. If warning light is not illuminated, go to next step. If warning light is illuminated, light is currently functioning correctly.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 5-pin ABS check relay. See Figure . Turn ignition switch on. Using a 3-amp fused jumper wire, connect 5-pin ABS check relay terminal No. 3 (Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire) to good body ground point. If ABS warning light is not illuminated, go to next step. If ABS warning light is illuminated, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 13-pin instrument cluster (combination meter) harness connector G11. Measure resistance of Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire between 5-pin ABS check relay harness connector terminal No. 3 and 13-pin instrument cluster (combination meter) harness connector G11 terminal No. 7. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, inspect ABS warning light bulb. Replace as needed. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not 2 ohms or less, repair Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire for an open or high resistance. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to ground, probe 5-pin ABS check relay harness connector terminal No. 3 (Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire). If test light illuminates, inspect Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire for short to voltage. Repair as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If circuit is okay, replace ABS check relay. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reconnect 5-pin ABS check relay and 13-pin instrument cluster (combination meter) harness connectors. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light illuminates for 3 seconds and goes off, problem is intermittent. Reinspect all applicable connectors for clean, tight terminal contact. If ABS warning light does not illuminate for 3 seconds and go off, replace EBCM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance of Black wire between 5-pin ABS check relay harness connector terminal No. 5 and good body ground point. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is not 2 ohms or less, repair open ground circuit (Black wire) between ABS check relay and chassis ground point located under left side of instrument panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage of Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire between 5-pin ABS check relay harness connector terminal No. 3 and good chassis ground point. If voltage is 10 volts or less, inspect Black/Blue wire between 5-pin ABS check relay harness connector terminal No. 4 and 32-pin EBCM harness connector terminal No. 21 for short to ground. Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, replace ABS check relay. If voltage is not 10 volts or less, repair Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire for open or high resistance. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
