Diagnostic Tests: Notes
NOTE:
When trouble shooting transmission, first perform a functional check of the self-diagnostic system. See TCM TCM ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If a DTC is retrieved, perform appropriate DTC test. If no DTCs are retrieved, and a transmission fault is present, perform manual shifting test to determine if fault is caused by an electrical or mechanical related problem. See MANUAL SHIFTING TEST under TRANSMISSION SHIFT TESTING.
NOTE:
If "Flash Code" (2-digit code) method was used to retrieve DTCs, convert DTC into OBD-II 4-digit code for use in the following DTC tests. See FLASH CODE/DTC IDENTIFICATION table. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS to aid in component location, wire color and wire terminal identification.
